Succe i Ekenäs med F2 båtarna

Michael Nylund did once again present an event of high international class. This was first round of UIM European Cup as well as Scandinavian Open Championship 2008. A new driver from Latvia did show up, racing the second boat from Riga Racing Team.

This was his first race ever in F2 cathegory. His name is Martens Bergholcs and was earlier one of the team mechanics.

There were eleven drivers on site in Ekenas. All of highest international level. So, the fight on the water was really tough on the tricky race course. Uvis Slakteris made the fastest lap in qualification on a 40.06 lap. Second was Marit Stromoy 41.24 in front of Mikki Fors 41.25, Ugis Gross 42.36, Olle Martin 41.80 and Johan Osterberg 41.84.

Mikki Fors won Sprint 1 in front of Ugis Gross, Olle Martin Johan Osterberg, Sven Jansson and Marit Stromoy.

Sprint 2 did see the new driver Martens Bergholcs winning in front of Sven Jansson, Michael Nylund, Johan Osterberg, Ugis Gross and Marit Stromoy.

So, we did have a surprising Martens Begholcs as pole sitter. Mikki Fors as second in front of Sven jansson, Ugis Gross, Johan Osterberg and Michael Nylund.

In the Grand Final we saw many passings in the beginning of the race. Mikki Fors did disappear in the front pretty soon. Bergholcs was second after half race, but was later passed by Gross and Slakteris. Sven Jansson did finish fifth and Johan Osterberg sixth. At the very end, Gross was again very close behind Mikk Fors, but Mikki seemed to see him clear in the mirrors.
